Autism Spectrum Disorder Apps

Most of the apps that are created for people with autism can also be used with others. For example, the Visual Scheduling apps and the checklist features can be used with students who have organizational difficulties and time management concerns.

The Anger app could be used by students who have difficulty communicating their emotions. For example, I could have used this app for a student who was very aggressive physically to other students when he got angry or upset. However, there was often no obvious visual warnign sign that this was about to happen. This app could have been very effective at teaching this student how to self-monitor his emotions.

If I had access to a class set of IPod touches (dreaming really big here!) I would use the Strip Designer with my entire class to create the graphic story (comic strip) that I do each year as a writing assignment.
